 So, introduce yourself?

Hi, I’m Andrew Richardson, the chairman of Deal Pride. We have 10 people on our committee who make Deal Pride happen. I’ve lived in Kent for many years and I’m incredibly passionate about creating inclusive, welcoming spaces for everyone in our community especially LGBTQ+ people and allies. Deal Pride started as a grassroots movement, and it’s grown into a vibrant, meaningful celebration of love, visibility, and unity.

What can people expect at Deal Pride this year?

This year, Deal Pride is going to be our biggest and most colourful yet! Visitors can expect a fantastic line-up of live music, drag performances, family-friendly activities, community stalls, and some special surprises along the way. We’ve worked hard to make it inclusive, accessible, and joyful—whether you’re coming with friends, family, or flying solo, there’s something for everyone. It’s a real celebration of our local community and LGBTQ+ visibility.

Do people need to buy tickets?

Nope! Deal Pride is completely free to attend. We believe Pride should be accessible to everyone, regardless of their financial situation. That said, donations are always welcome and go directly back into helping us make each year even better and more inclusive. If you want to March with us we ask you to register at www.dealpride.org

In the evening we have an amazing after party planned in the Astor Theatre, this is 18+ and tickets are available on the Astor website

Based on the news around the world including the UK, do you think Pride events are even more important than ever this year?

Absolutely. With rising anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric and rights being challenged both here in the UK and globally, Pride isn’t just a celebration it’s a powerful act of visibility and resistance. It’s a chance for our community to come together, to be seen, and to stand up proudly for equality, compassion, and human rights. Deal Pride is about joy, but it’s also about solidarity. That’s why it matters now more than ever.
